but I do know these are challenging times for Cameron and his team. He’s been preparing for this moment for 8 years. He’s been methodical, thinking through all the pieces, running tests, developing tools and materials to help him dive to the bottom of the trench. Now everything is ready and in place for the [...]

For at least a year now I’ve been dreaming to sail around the Manicouagan Reservoir (or “Eye of Quebec”) way up North in Canada. The final driving destination is Relais Gabriel. That’s where I’ll pack the boat, monitor conditions for a day maybe, and depart ASAP. It’s hard to know what [...]

I’ve been telling people about this crazy adventure I’m planning up in Quebec. It would be the gnarliest thing I’ve taken on if it manifests. It’s still questionable whether I can take the time, or even prepare for such a challenge… but I’m thinking about it.

If you look at any map of North America published after the 60′s, you’ll see a fascinating annular lake directly North of Maine. This is the Manicouagan Reservoir, or the “Eye of Quebec.” It’s a big crater formed about 200 million years ago during an event causing a fire ball that extended to New York. [...]
